Implant Dentures

While traditional dentures were once a brilliant way to replace missing teeth, those who have tried them will tell you of the many problems. For example, there’s the constant risk of the dentures falling out in front of friends. Also, there’s the concern about a sagging face due to the lack of tooth roots causing bone shrinking. There’s even the chore of taking dentures out for cleaning.

While traditional dentures were once a strong option, the industry has moved on, and this has brought us to implant dentures in Oklahoma City.

If you’re tired of dentures that keep rubbing and causing pain, falling out, or all the other problems that come with traditional dentures, why not explore dental implants with dentures?

What are Implant Dentures in OKC?

Effectively, dental implants act as tooth roots, placed below the gum line into the jaw. Once the implant is in place and healed, we can attach your denture. So, the implant connects the replacement teeth, your denture, to your mouth. The best part is there is zero, nada, zilch susceptibility to decay and other problems related to cavities since implants are immune to cavities. No more sores from rubbing means no more gooey paste.

The dentures snap in and out for easy maintenance and cleaning, while at the same time being very, very secure. Since the denture is so secure, you are also able to speak, smile and chew with more confidence.

Also, the implants will be preserving your jaw bone, preventing atrophy or shrinking of the bone.

Benefits of Implant Dentures in Oklahoma City

For those who are missing many teeth, you may have tried traditional dentures in the past. One of the biggest problems is that they tend to slip while talking or eating. All it takes is one slip at the wrong time, and you lose confidence in your teeth.

It’s natural to not want to eat or even talk for long periods in front of others because you’re worried about your dentures slipping. Even after this, we also have to consider the time and effort it takes to keep dentures clean.

The implant denture process removes these inconveniences, and it offers a new lease of life to patients. Here are just some of the benefits of same-day implant dentures:

Simple Maintenance – Simply snap the dentures out to clean them. If this is not for you, there are more permanent solutions available, such as All-on-X or All-on-4. Just clean your implants as you would your natural teeth. Brush twice a day and attend your regular hygiene and dentist check-ups.

Security and Stability – With a more secure base, you don’t need to worry about slipping while eating. You gain confidence performing everyday tasks, and you can eat many of your favorite foods and drinks without worrying.

Jaw Strengthening – Once teeth disappear, the jaw loses stimulation from the roots. Over time, this can weaken the jaw and lead to other problems. With implant dentures, you have an artificial root that stimulates the jaw and prevents sagging.

Why Choose Reflections Dental Care?

If you’re currently considering implant dentures in Oklahoma City, allow us to explain just some of the reasons why you should trust Reflections Dental Care.

Experience – Dr. Schmidt offers knowledge and experience in abundance. He has been placing dental implants since his 12-month residency at OU in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry, where he graduated in 2004.

Dr. Schmidt also spent extra time in the Implantology Clinic at OU after finishing his graduation requirements early. He discovered his love of implants when helping an older lady pivot from decades of removable denture wearing to an All-on-X. He says, “she floated across the room after we delivered her final All-on-X and sat in her husband’s lap, giving her husband a big smooch on the lips while wearing her new smile.”

Compassion – Some people are keen to visit a dental office for treatment, while others are filled with nerves. Our goal is to brighten your smile, not ruin any days, so those who want to sleep through their appointment can often utilize IV sedation and general anesthesia. Just mention your nerves during an appointment, and we’ll do what we can to create the right atmosphere and environment for you.

Personalized Treatment – We find that sometimes patients want and/or need a combination of treatment. For example, if your lower teeth need a complete denture and your upper teeth are restorable with minor treatment then we are able to satisfy both of your upper and lower needs. Wouldn’t it be great if you didn’t have to do both upper and lower implant dentures and can preserve some of your natural teeth?

Respect – This is our number one Core Value! Our mission is to show our respect through customized treatment plans and minimized wait times – we appreciate that you have a busy life, so we aim to maintain a high-quality patient experience at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Just some of the benefits of this treatment include stability, easy maintenance, jaw strengthening, and confidence. If you choose solutions like All-on-X or All-on-4, you’ll have long-lasting and durable solutions that keep you smiling for many decades.

When you opt for dental implants with dentures, you’ll have secure posts placed inside the jawbone. Since the dentures have an anchor, they are far more reliable and secure compared to more conventional options that rely on gum suction and adhesives.

For sure! If you love the look and cosmetics of your current dentures and want them more secured for better functionality, then we are often able to retrofit new implants to your current dentures. Please give us a call or book online and schedule an appointment.

Unfortunately, this isn’t something we can answer with a single number because it depends on the treatment plan required for each patient. Don’t worry, we’ll start with a consultation where we can consider your oral health and create a tailored plan for you. Be sure to ask questions and consider your options before making an informed decision.

This is something we can discuss during an appointment at our dental office, but our approach will depend on various factors. If you still have a number of healthy teeth, we may explore partial dentures, implant bridges, tooth-supported bridges, crowns, or a combination of options.

In any case, the goal is always to protect and shield natural teeth for as long as reasonably possible. We say “reasonably possible” because sometimes a few healthy teeth can get in the way of a much better and longer lasting result.

You’ll certainly have more freedom with your food and drink compared to traditional dentures, but you still need to be careful, as you would with natural teeth. For example, this means steering clear of overly sticky, crunchy, chewy foods.

Use a soft toothbrush and smooth toothpaste to scrub the dentures, no gritty toothpastes that will scratch the denture over time. Then brush the implants with the same toothbrush and paste. We also recommend regular check-ups and appointments with the hygienist for professional cleaning.  We can use a stronger solution and mechanism to clean the stubborn deposits off of your denture when you are at your regular check-ups.
