Frequency or quantity that relates to the question of how do I prevent cavities?  We get this question a lot!  How do I prevent cavities?  I try so hard it seems that I’m always getting diagnosed with something.   And while some people are more prone to cavities than others, some people really don’t seem to be susceptible to cavities at all.  The best way you can prevent them is minding your frequency of exposure to anything but water that you put into your mouth.  An example of this one can of soda can be a lot more damaging than a two liter bottle of soda! What do I mean by that?  A can of soda sipped on slowly throughout the day versus a large two liter bottle of soda in one sitting is more damaging! How often are you snacking on things?  What is the frequency in which you’re introducing things into your mouth that is anything but water?  That fancy coffee drink that you got in the drive thru this morning, how long does it take you to drink it?  Is it most of the morning? Is it all the way through lunch? While that drink is great and tastes great, if you just can’t seem to shorten the duration in which you’re drinking it then at least have some water that you chase it with that allows your mouth to recover faster.  It takes the mouth about 30 minutes to recover after you’ve exposed it to something besides water.  So if you drink water after you’ve snacked or if you’ll brush your teeth after you’ve snacked then you can reduce the amount of cavities that form in your mouth. Hope this helps. Have a great day!
